Glorishears Ceilidh Band

Glorishears are always in great demand for Dances, Clubs and Festivals, as in fact are all the members of the band individually, and you can always be sure of a "good do" when any of this group are around, be it for dance, song, instrumental, workshops or whatever. They are: Elaine - This is a second spell with the band for Elaine, having made a temporary "retirement" to bring up her family - who have become really talented musicians themselves - and have been known to play in with the band on occasions Originally on keyboards, since rejoining she has featured as lead melody on accordion and has made quite a name for herself, appearing as a musician at Festivals and Folk Camps - Elaine ensures all the Glorishears music has a strong melodic lead. Dave - Is the newest member of the band, but joined with a wealth of experience as a musician in various ceilidh bands, and is certainly no stranger to the wider folk music scene having performed in various groups (both a-cappella and instrumental) and as a solo performer both within folk and classical music circles Dave's classical training brings a new dimension to the band, with a true acoustically sounding guitar which ranges from gentle classically influenced passages to raunchy rock and jazz rifts and rhythms. Malc - has been with the band since the beginning and has a vast experience of folk song and dance music (and beyond with previous experience in brass bands and rock bands!). In Glorishears he uses an Electric 5-string fretless Bass to lay down a really rocky beat for the up-tempo numbers and adds subtle mellow bass to the slower numbersMalc is well known throughout the Folkscene as a singer, guitarist, and electric and acoustic bass player, presenter/MC and organiser of numerous folk events - he has run folk clubs, concerts, festivals and other events for well over fifty years. He has recently also been involved in a couple of albums featuring top folk performers
